C-Print Services

What is C-Print?  C-Print is a computer aided speech-to-text transcription system developed at the National Technical Institute for Deaf (NTID). Because so many of those individuals with hearing loss are still working and are active in community events, it is used by businesses as an aid in meetings and to provide a meaning for meaning translation of spoken English.  Meeting notes can be distributed to all participants as well.
C-Print was developed to improve the professional setting experience for business consumers and is being used around the country.

How Does C-Print Work?
A C-Print captionist produces text of the spoken information (including spoken dialogue, questions and answers made by others) into a laptop computer using a software application.  This computer is connected to an LCD projector and magnified onto a large screen.   Keep you audience motivated to stay with your speaker by reading the speaker’s words in a large projected font that is positioned behind the speaker.  The audience can follow the presentation despite peripheral noise and other distractions and not miss a moment of the presentation.  C-Print is invaluable when audience members have a hearing loss as they can read along with the speaker.  C-Print is also very affective in a 1 on 1 setting such as classrooms, smaller meetings, and appointments.  In these situations, the person with a hearing loss is also equipped with a laptop to receive the information.

All of our captionists have received their training through the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and they are highly skilled in text condensing strategies and process information auditorily.  The captionist captures as much information as possible, generally providing a meaning for meaning translation using fewer words than the original speaker.

If you are interested in a demonstration, please contact us.  We can sit down and show you the product, demonstrate how it works, answer your questions, and determine if C-Print is a good fit for you or your work venue.
